Mumbai : Reliance Telecom Ltd (RTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Communications (Rcom), has been granted in-principle approval by the Ministry of Communications for providing CDMA mobile services in north-eastern India.
Rcom informed Bombay Stock Exchange Tuesday that in addition to existing GSM services provided by RTL, the company would also offer CDMA services in these areas.
Rcom, along with RTL, has a pan-India licence to provide CDMA and GSM services.
CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) and GSM (Global System for Mobile services) are the two main platforms for offering mobile telephony services.
