New Delhi : Indias Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha (Lower House of Indian Parliament) L K Advani is facing a threat of suicide attack from a terror group following which all his political rallies have been indefinitely postponed.
India Home Ministry had decided to increase the security cover for Advani following intelligence inputs suggesting threat to his life from terrorists, an official of Home Ministry told reporters here Tuesday.
Indias National Security Adviser M K Narayanan met Advani Monday and discussed the issue with him, the official added.
Last week, the Home Ministry had reviewed the security of Advani and Chief Minister of Western Indian state of Gujarat Narendra Modi after inputs claimed that Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence had “hired” India-born mafia Dawood Ibrahim to assassinate the leaders.
India has sought Dawoods extradition from Pakistan as he is main accused in the 1993 serial blasts in Western Indian city of Mumbai, which killed hundreds.
