Addressing a large public gathering at the historical Garrison ground at Jabalpur, Advani said this was shown by the fact that even “six years after Supreme Court had awarded a death sentence to Afzal Guru in the case of attack on Parliament, justice is yet to be done.”

The rally was held to mark the commencement of Advani’s ‘Sankalp Yatra’.

Elaborate security arrangements were made in Jabalpur on Advani’s visit in view of the National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan’s warning that terrorists might carry out suicide attack on his rallies.

However, Advani asserted at the meeting that his rallies would continue. “The government has sought some time to provide enough security and the party has decided to reschedule the programme and not cancel it.”

Lashing out at the UPA government for failing to tackle price rise and corruption, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate said India needs a strong leadership, which can end the plight of farmers, fight corruption at the top level and boost employment-oriented economic growth thereby providing relief to the common man.

The BJP leader said the Congress-led government has done nothing concrete to check infiltration as well and asked it to explain “what steps have been taken to stop infiltration from Bangladesh?”
