National e-governance award for ‘Tele-Bhugtan’ service of Jabalpur

Bhopal: The “Tele-Bhugtan” service (Tele-payment service) system established in Jabalpur collectorate has been bestowed National Golden Icon Award for innovative usage of technology in e-governance in the field of tele-payment. This award was given today at Panchkula in Haryana.

According to an official Press release the Tele-Bhugtan service was launched by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on June 30, 2006. Since then it is working non-stop. This service has been started under Public Private Participation plan. This facility not only proved best on the national level but was also awarded by government of India.

Through Tele-Bhugtan service, bills based on IVRS can be paid. A person can easily make payment of bills, fees, installment etc. while sitting at his house through this service. A telephone or mobile phone can be used for making payment through tele-Bhugtan service.

Nidan Technology Private Limited is extending technical cooperation for running Jabalpur Tele-Bhugtan Service. All the software and hardware works of the service are looked after by Nidan Technology Private Limited. NIC Jabalpur also gives technical advice and cooperation from time to time while State Bank of India is extending banking service to consumers as well as institutions.

Similarly, Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation and other important institutions are also connected with this service.

The national e-governance awards were distributed at Panchakula (Haryana) at the 11th National Conference on e-governance. Other recipients of the Golden Icon Award include Project of Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs for excellence in government process re-engineering, IRCTC for outstanding performance in citizen-centric service in internet recurring section and Steel Authority of India’s electronic procurement system for best usage of ICT in PSU. Besides these institutions Jabalpur collectorate was given away Gold Icon Award for Tele-Bhugtan.

It may be mentioned that last year the tenth National Conference was held at Bhopal where Madhya Pradesh treasury was awarded gold medal for its computerisation. ([email protected])
