Berlin : Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday expressed optimism on finding a solution to the ongoing row over Iran’s nuclear program.
Inaugurating the 44th Munich Conference on Security Policy, Erdogan said he was “more confident” in seeking chances for settlement of the Iranian nuclear program dispute amid the latest positive developments.
The Turkish leader reiterated his country’s “all-out support for a diplomatic solution” of Tehran’s nuclear program.
Erdogan urged western countries to deal “objectively” with Iran’s nuclear program.
One has to “be fair and not selective,” he said.
One has to be really “careful” when judging a country, Erdogan added.
The prime minister pointed also to the “positive (nuclear) cooperation” between Iran and Russia.
Erdogan also emphasized that the recent US intelligence report had vindicated Iran.
He warned against making baseless accusations like claims that a country was pursuing weapons of mass destruction, merely because it wants to build a nuclear power plant.
Erdogan stressed that Turkey does not oppose efforts of a country to acquire nuclear energy, if it is for meeting its growing energy needs.
Around 400 high-profile delegates from 50 countries – including four presidents, three prime ministers and scores of military leaders and experts – were taking part in the weekend confab in Munich’s luxurious Bayerischer Hof hotel amid tight security.
