Chowrasia jumps more than 200 places in world ranking

New Delhi : India’s latest star S.S.P.Chowrasia moved ahead of Gaurav Ghei and Shiv Kapur in world rankings with his sensational triumph in the EMAAR-MGF Indian Masters on Sunday.

Chowrasia, ranked 388 before the Indian Masters, is now placed 161 and is the third highest ranked Indian player after Jyoti Randhawa (85th) and Jeev Milkha Singh (93rd). Randhawa finished tied 22nd at the Indian Masters, while Jeev missed the cut.

Chowrasia’s prize cheque of $416,660 gave him the top spot on the Asian Tour Order of Merit. The Indian Masters was the first event of the season.

Ghei, sixth in Indian Masters, rose top 212 in world rankings, while Kapur is 263rd.
