Tehran : A moderate earthquake overnight rattled a remote mountain area in Iran and injured 10 people, damaged 70 buildings, the official IRNA news agency reported Thursday.
The report said the quake registered 4.3 on the Richter scale, with an epicenter located in central Iran. Relief teams were dispatched with tents and blankets to the Nasirabad village in the Gandoman district, some 600 kilometers (375 miles) south of the capital, Tehran, according to AP.
IRNA quoted Sattar Farhadi, head of the local emergency department as saying that the quake struck Nasirabad at 0035 local time (0905 GMT).
