New Delhi : Emerging Media, franchise owners of Team Jaipur to compete in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has appointed Ogilvy Group to provide the communication strategy to build the positioning and reputation for the team.
“The association with the Ogilvy Group is a major step in taking the brand IPL Team Jaipur forward and in promoting the team by using the socio-cultural aspect of Jaipur,” said Emerging Media CEO Fraser Castellino.
Interestingly, Ogilvy Group’s executive chairman (South Asia) Piyush Pandey is a former Rajasthan Ranji Trophy player. He also led Delhi University to its win in the Rohinton Baria Trophy in 1979.
The Jaipur-born Pandey, who began his career as a trainee account executive is now the executive chairman of Ogilvy and winner of many international awards, including Cannes.
Pandey said he was excited at the prospect of working for the Jaipur side in the tournament, based on Twenty20 matches and starting April 18.
Emerging Media plans to rollout major brand and marketing activities to create awareness and enhance brand Team Jaipur. It has also earmarked a substantial budget that will include all marketing promotions and on-ground activities, creating a new logo, a team jersey, a team anthem etc.
“In response to the client’s excitement, we have also created an exclusive team – Ogilvy Team Jaipur – to build the brand. The creative team headed by Abhijit Avasthi will work with a battery of creative people, on-ground experts and the client’s team to create a unique identity for IPL Team Jaipur,” said Pandey.
