The Israeli army spokeswoman told Xinhua that they were unaware of the airstrike in the coastal area.

Earlier, eight Palestinians were killed and 40 others wounded after a huge explosion hit a building in the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza Strip, Palestinian medics and witnesses said.

Palestinian witnesses said that an Israeli F-16 warplane fired a missile and struck the building, where a senior Islamic Jihad militant was living. As a result, the two-story building collapsed and caused huge casualties.

Witnesses said that among the eight killed was Ayman al-Fayed, a senior militant in Jihad’s armed wing al-Quds Brigades.
