Violence Resurfaces In Nasik, North Indians’ dwellings And Shops Put On Fire

Nasik: February 15: Whereas on one side, situation in Mumbai and other areas of Maharashtra has returned to normal, after the arrest of Raj Thackeray, state of affairs is still worse in Nasik where a Maharashtrian and a resident of north India had to loose his life at the hands of Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena (MNNS) goons, unleashing a wave of anguish against. MNNS and making the situation tense once again. On account of this tense situation, riots raised their ugly head once again in Nasik.

Miscreants attacked some shops in Indira Nagar locality of Nasik City belonging to north Indians. The attack resulted in quibble and fight between MNNS workers and north Indians. Local Maharashtrian inhabitants reported with police that north Indians living here had abused Maharashtrian women and this resulted in a brawl between the two groups. In the meantime, miscreants set fire a building and a godown owned by a north Indian who deals in steel sheets and other steel items. Police have arrested Kalabai Khode and Sanjoo Khode in this connection.

For now, police have also arrested a MNNS student wing leader on charges of killing a Maharashtrian staff member of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. in an attack on a bus on February 13, 2008.
For the moment, the series of exodus that started here has spread to other districts too and terror of bashful crimes of MNNS hoodlums continuing for weeks has engulfed the region. According to information coming from Pune, labourers and employees from Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh have also started leaving Pune
