Tehran : Iran is not concerned at the decision by the US to turn over classified nuclear data to the UN nuclear watchdog, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said Sunday.
“They should present whatever they have to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the IAEA should decide what to do with it,” the spokesman said in his weekly press briefing.
The US says its intelligence data proves that Iran was working on an atomic bomb before 2003.
“We are sure the Americans have nothing, otherwise they would have already presented (the information) and created a poisonous atmosphere against Iran.” Hosseini said.
“The Americans are more aware than anybody else that Iran’s nuclear programmes are peaceful,” the spokesman added.
A US National Intelligence Estimate published in December said Iran had stopped its nuclear weapons programme in 2003.
The UN Security Council has imposed sanctions on Tehran for failing to meet demands to suspend nuclear enrichment, a process Western nations believe Iran wants to use to make nuclear weapons.
