Parachinar blast in Pakistan: death toll rises to 47

Parachinar, Pakistan : The death toll of the deadly suicide blast in election meeting in Eidgah market has risen to 47 as nine more persons succumbed to their severe wounds here at Agency Headquarters’ Hospital of Kurram Agency, hospital sources said Sunday.

The death toll may rise further as several patients are still in precarious conditions, according to Casualty Medical Officer at the Agency Headquarters Hospital, Dr Farhad Ali.

The critical injured have been shifted to Peshawar. The power supply, which was disrupted due to high intensity of the blast, has been restored.

It may be recalled that a suicide bomber riding a motorcar rammed his explosive laden vehicle into the election office of an independent candidate Syed Riaz Hussain Shah in Parachinar city, killing instant death of 38 persons and injuring 109 others on Saturday.

The dead identified are Asif Ali son of Muhammad Hassan, Wasim son of Mehdi, Muhammad Hussain, Ahmed Ali, Hataf Ali son of Yaqoob Ali, Kabir Hussain son of Ali Asghar, Shafaat son of Sultan, Syed Kamal Hussain son of Syed Gul Hussain and Jawad Hussain son of Mir Muhammad Khan.
