New Delhi : At least three Maoists and six paramilitary personnel were killed in a clash in the Bijapur district of Central Indian state of Chhattisgarh Monday. “The clash took place in Mirtur area of the district this afternoon,” news agency Press Trust of India reported, quoting a state police official. Several Maoists were also injured in the encounter, the news agency said.
Maoists are active in 15 of the 19 districts of Chhattisgarh, according to the government figures. Around 1,300 paramilitary personnel are deployed in Chhattisgarh for anti-Maoist operation.
