South american fm”s meeting concludes

Buenos Aires : The Arab Foreign Ministers and their South American counterparts concluded a two-day meeting on Thursday to prepare for the upcoming summit scheduled to be held in Qatar later this year.

The Foreign Ministers agreed that the next Arab-South American summit, the second of its kind since the 2005 Brazil summit, be held in Qatar in the fourth quarter of the year at a date to be proosed later.

On Political issues, a declaration issued at the end of the meeting, touched upon the situation in Iraq, saying that national conciliation remains the cornerstone for stability and security in Iraq.
They also rejected all forms of violence in Iraq, along with refusal to see foreign interference in the internal affairs of Iraq.

On economic and trade issues, the joint statement, called Buenos Aires declaration agreed on the need to take all necessary efforts to remove barriers standing in the way of greater economic and trade cooperation.

They expressed satisfaction with the positive developments and the increase of trade exchange between the two region since the last summit, and said the two regions would work more closer to cement cooperation in trade areas.

Kuwait’s delegation at the two day meeting was led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem.
