New Delhi : A city court Wednesday granted bail to three Harayana constables, who were deployed as security officers of Congress parliamentarian Avtar Singh Bhadana and held for allegedly assaulting a Delhi Police inspector.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohinder Virat granted bail to Vijay Pal, Dharam Singh and Satish Kumar on a personal bond of Rs.30,000 each.
The three were arrested by Delhi Police Tuesday.
According to Delhi Police, the three constables had manhandled police officer Vimal Kumar, who had asked the MP to make way for British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on his arrival at a city hotel during his India visit last month.
The security personnel had allegedly manhandled and “confined” the inspector on duty in his car. Kumar of Delhi Police’s security wing was posted as security detail for visiting British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Inspector Kumar had asked Bhadana to move away from the porch of Taj Mansingh hotel in New Delhi, where Brown was staying.
The accused have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including Sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of his functions), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter him from his duty), 342 (wrongful confinement), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention).
