Melbourne : Australian pace bowling spearhead Brett Lee has turned to technology to refine his bowling technique, the media reported here Wednesday.
According to a report in the Herald Sun, the fast bowler donned a suit covered in velcro dots at Deakin University Wednesday to measure his bowling and batting skills and movements. His actions were recorded by infrared cameras and transformed into stick movements. The same process was used to create the computer-generated creature Gollum in the Lord of Rings films.
Initial results showed Lee had too much shoulder movement in his run-up. Deakin University’s Kim Vincs said the animation would show Lee how to make his bowling action more efficient.
“Hopefully there might be one little thing I can pick up with my action and can improve my bowling and maybe get a little bit quicker,” Lee was quoted as saying by the daily. “If we can try and get our actions as close to perfect for our own body make-up, then we’ll be better cricketers.”
