Vienna : Ambassador of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) at IAEA unanimously voted in favor of a communique here Friday in which Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities are supported.
In the communique that would be read out at IAEA’s next Monday Board of Governors quarterly session the NAM member states have meanwhile appreciated the UN nuclear watchdog’s recent “realistic report” on Iran’s nuclear activities.
Iran’s Ambassador at the Agency, Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh told IRNA on the sidelines of NAM meeting, “In this communique solving the remainder of questions on our country’s nuclear program is regarded as a most basic step and hope is expressed that from now on the inspections would get back to their normal course.”
He added, “In this communique it is meanwhile stressed that the entire activities of the Agency, including its official reports and its sessions must be within the framework of this organ’s official guidelines, free from the political pressure imposed against IAEA secretariat.”
IAEA’s quarterly session would be held at its Vienna headquarters on Monday March 1st, 2008, in which the members would survey Secretary General Muhamed ElBaradei’s latest report on Iran and the other issues addressed in his report.
Elbaradei has reiterated in his report that the entire remaining questions regarding Iran’s nuclear program have been properly replied, and the remaining accusations brought up by certain groups and countries are not worthy of being regarded as independent issues worth launching further surveys and inspections.
