Cairo : Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is scheduled to meet a US Congress delegation headed by Democratic Representative Steve Israel next Sunday in Sharm El-Sheikh.
An Egyptian political source told KUNA the talks will highlight the latest developments in the region, Egyptian-Israeli relations, and developments in the Middle East peace process.
The talks between the two sides will also focus on the situation in Iraq, Lebanon, and US-Egyptian relations in terms of the recent tensions regarding US financial aid to Egypt.
Recently, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit accused an “Israeli lobby” linked to a US lobby of attempting to harm Egypt-US relations by using the issue of smuggling across the Gaza border as an excuse to cut Washington’s military aid to Cairo.
