Scotland detectives visit Benazir killing site, hospital

ISLAMABAD, Jan 5 (KUNA) — The Scotland Yard detectives Saturday made their first inspection of Benazir Bhutto killing site and hospital a day after their arrival in the country to help Pakistan probe leading opposition leaders tragic assassination.

The seven-member team Saturday afternoon inspected the crime site in Liaqat Bagh area of Rawalpindi city and then later in the evening visited the Rawalpindi General Hospital, where Benazir Bhutto died after inflicting bullet wounds, interior ministry sources told KUNA.
Sources said that the team was accompanied by local investigators and they also met with the team of doctors that proclaimed Benazir dead.

According to the Associate Press of Pakistan (APP), the investigators took pictures from different angles of the site of the stage from where Benazir Bhutto had addressed the rally.
The team also studied the location where the vehicle was at the time of the attack, it said, adding that they assessed the distance between the vehicle and attackers with the help of video and pictures and made a film of the area from the top a building overlooking Liaquat Bagh.

The Pakistani security authorities provided to the team a sketch of the suspected killers along with certain information.

President Pervez Musharraf has vowed to provide maximum support and information to the Scotland Yard team, a local Dawn News channel quoted him as saying.
“Maximum support and information would be provided to the Scotland Yard team for them to carry out the investigation independently”, he said amid Bhuttos Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has accused him and the government behind her assassination.
Asif Ali Zardari, Bhuttos husband and PPP chairman, has demanded an international investigation under the supervision of the United Nations.
