Israeli air force kills Palestinian militant in Gaza

Gaza : Israeli air force attacked a group of Palestinian militants early Sunday in eastern Gaza city, killing one and wounding two others, medical sources said.

According to Hamas, the pre-dawn air strike targeted a joint group of its fighters and militants from the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), an armed group comprising fighters from several factions, killing Mohammed al-Rab’i, 36, and moderately wounding two others.

Meanwhile, Israeli army pushed troops into central Gaza Strip refugee camp of al-Burij, drawing reaction from Palestinian militants who rushed to the area near the border.

Witnesses said the Israeli soldiers and the Palestinian gunmen exchanged fire. According to medics, at least four Palestinians were wounded in the incursion which is still going on.

On Saturday, a Hamas militant was killed in Israeli artillery shelling in northern Gaza Strip. The tank shells followed the launching of eight home-made rockets into southern Israel city of Sderot by the PRC fighters.
