Jordan’s King Abdullah, Blair discuss latest developments in mideast

Amman : Jordan’s King Abdullah has received envoy of the Quartet Committee Tony Blair and discussed with him the latest development in the region as well as efforts exerted to push forward the peace process.

A statement issued by the Royal Court Tuesday said the King highlighted the importance of keeping the momentum provided by the Annapolis peace meeting, noting to the efforts exerted by Jordan to help Palestinians and Israelis reach a just and everlasting settlement for the Palestinian issue.

He also pointed to the importance of continuing the international support for the Palestinian National Authority to enable it carry its missions.

The King hailed the efforts exerted by the Quartet Committee to guarantee the success of the donors conference, which was held in Paris last month, calling to implement the decisions and recommendations of the conference to develop the Palestinian economy and make them a reality.

For his part, Blair briefed King Abdullah on the efforts exerted by the committee, which comprises the United States, Russia, the European Union and the United Nations, to support the Palestinian government and the Palestinian national institutions.
