Terrorism is a common challenge for the entire world and Pakistan is determined to play its role in eliminating this menace, he said while talking to the US Senator Joe Lieberman, Member Foreign Relations Committee of US Senate.

The PM said that the people of Pakistan were religious and peaceful and that they support the measures against extremist elements that were directly affecting their better future, according to a press release. He said further that economic deprivation in the tribal region, FATA, bordering Afghanistan was one of the main reasons that some people of that area were being misled by the extremist elements.

The Government of Pakistan, he said, was actively involved in bringing about development in region by improving infrastructure and increasing basic facilities of life for the common people.

The Prime Minister re-emphasized for early establishment of Reconstruction Opportunities Zones (ROZs) in the FATA region to help in provision of respectable livelihood to the people.

The delay in the establishment of ROZs with the assistance of USA, he said, was also affecting the commitment of the government to the people of FATA region to bring about betterment in their lives.
