Islamabad : The lawyers Thursday held demonstrations across Pakistan and boycott courts to protest suicide blast outside High Court building in eastern Lahore city and demanded independence of judiciary.
The protest demonstrations were held in Southern Karachi port city, Quetta, Peshawar and other small cities and towns.
In Karachi, the Bar Association ahead of the demonstration held a meeting and passed several resolutions that demanded restoration of suspended former Chief Justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chauhdary, the release of President of Supreme Court Bar Association from house arrest, independence of judiciary and condemned killing of Benazir Bhutto.
The protest rally in Lahore was suspended because of suicide explosion that killed 20 policemen and two civilians and wounded over 70 others.
