Woman commits suicide after being expelled for copying

Ranchi : A woman committed suicide here after she was expelled from an examination for copying, the police said Saturday.

According to police, Rekha, a resident of Kanke locality in the city, was expelled from the Rajkiya Pharmacist Institute examination Thursday when she was caught red handed for copying. Rekha has a one-year-old son.

Rekha, along with 30 other students, were expelled from the examination on charges of copying.

According to relatives of Rekha, she felt humiliated. The family members and her husband tried to calm her down.

On Friday night, she hanged herself from the ceiling fan.

The family members of Rekha have informed the Gonda police station about the incident. The police have started an investigation. Rekha was married two years ago to Dinesh Kumar Razak.

“We are trying to find out the details of the incident. We are also investigating whether any of her family members were involved in the incident,” said a police official.
