Baghdad : A leader of the Iraqi Shia Sadrist movement and a judge were killed in separate attacks in Iraq Monday, security sources said.
The Sadrists are loyal to radical Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.
Fayad al-Mosawy, a senior Sadrist figure in the southern city of Basra, was killed by militants in the early hours of the morning, Hareth al-Azary of the Sadr movement said.
“Killing al-Mosawy is a horrible crime that apparently targets the Sadr movement,” said al-Azary.
An Iraqi judge was also killed Monday in a separate attack in southern Baghdad. No further details were immediately available.
