Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir assembly was adjourned for half-an-hour, here on Thursday, following the commotion and uproar crated by opposition benches, who were protesting against the government’s failure to table Kundal Commission report, despite its assurances, in the House.

Soon after the House met, here this morning, members of opposition National Conference (NC), Jammu and Kashmir National Panther Party (JKNPP) and BJP resorted to protests amid noisy scenes and sought the explaination of the government over its failure to table Kundal Committee Report, on alleged forest scam, in the House despite the assurances by the chief minister, earlier in the session.

NC members led by their leader AR Rather, JKNPP party members led by their leader Harshdev Singh and lone BJP legislator Jugal Kishore stood up from their benches and demanded tabling of report on the forest scam, investigated by Chief Secretary B.R. Kundal.

Rather blamed Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad of “insulting the House by not tabling the report yesterday as promised by him during his address on the motion of thanks on Governor’s address in the assembly on Tuesday”.

He said chief minister was non-serious to the proceedings of the House and hardly has kept his assurance.

“What are they hiding when chief minister said that government has nothing to hide and there was no involvement of any minister in the scam,” Rather said.

As the noisy scenes continued for over ten minutes, Minister for Health Mangat Ram Sharma stood up and assured the members that the report would be tabled after three days as it has been sent for publication.

“Kundal Committee Report Paish Karo Nehi To Kundal Shaib Ko Pesh Karo” SD Shariq of NC shouted at treasury benches.

Opposition continued with protests and sloganeering amid allegations that government wants to hide the involvement of two ministers in the scam.

As the situation continued, the Speaker Tara Chand adjourned the House for half-an-hour.
