Mathura : The security at the Mathura oil refinery has been tightened following intelligence reports suggesting terrorists could target vital installations in the Uttar Pradesh town around Republic Day.
Senior communications manager of the refinery N. Shiv Kumar told IANS: “In view of the alert sounded we have beefed up security arrangements and reviewed the system to plug holes.
“Though our security arrangements are in place with more than 300 personnel working in shifts and senior staff conducting surprise checks, we are alive to the sensitive pressures on the eve of the Republic Day.”
District authorities and police officials Thursday reviewed the security at the refinery, about 380 km from state capital Lucknow.
