Faizabad : With an aim to promote Urdu language in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to grant scholarships to the students who study Urdu in government schools.
The scholarship, which will cover students from class VI to post-graduate level, will be awarded by Uttar Pradesh Urdu Academy, a state government body. The scholarship will carry a handsome amount, which will vary from class to class, and will be decided in the coming budget session of the state Assembly.
Non-Muslim students from each district will also be awarded the scholarship. The authorities have informed all districts in the state that the scholarship will not be included in the state-sponsored scholarship programmes being run at present for the minorities.
