New Delhi : Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse Saturday said that his government was committed to the devolution package for power sharing, whose proposals will be submitted on January 23 this year.
“I had asked the the All Party Representative Committee (APRC) to submit the proposals on January 23 and we would place it before the cabinet,” Rajapakse told news agency Press Trust of India.
He said the proposals would be placed before Sri Lankan Parliament and his government was determined to implement them.
Rajapakse said though the APRC proposals on devolution package would be interim, it would be finalised soon.
The APRC, created in 2006, is finalising the devolution package to set up provincial councils in the Tamil-dominated North and Eastern parts of Sri Lanka to end the protracted ethnic conflict.
