The introduction of semester system would ensure continuous teaching throughout the year in colleges and the students would be relieved of the burden of completing entire syllabus at the time of annual examination. Besides, it would also regularize the attendance of students.

It may be mentioned here that semester system is already in vogue in technical, medical, professional and autonomous colleges in the state.

To facilitate introduction of semester system the process of restructuring syllabi has been completed. Meetings of the different study boards were held from January 5 to 15 last at Hamidia College, Bhopal for this. The boards have already presented their recommendations to the state government. These meetings were held after a gap of four years. A special feature of syllabi restructuring this time is that the syllabi of both PG and degree levels have been restructured by the central study board. Earlier, only PG syllabi used to be restructured by it.

Apart from this, one project work has been included in classes of every subject to acquaint the students with the practical aspect of their respective subjects. The project would be prepared in the context of the industries, cottage and small industries around the concerning area. A separate academic and quality cell has been set up in the Directorate of Higher Education for this purpose. ([email protected])
