Hyderabad : At least five people were injured when a gun a policeman was holding accidentally went off during Republic Day celebrations in Andhra Pradesh Saturday.
The incident took place during flag hoisting at the revenue office at Gangadhar in Karimnagar district, about 200 km from here.
Police blamed police constable Venkat Reddy for the mishap, which sparked panic. The injured have been admitted to the Karimnagar government hospital. Doctors said they were out of danger.
The constable was accused of not taking necessary precautions while holding the gun.
