Vishist Seva Medal for Indian Army PRO Col. Sakhuja

New Delhi : Indian Army spokesman Col. S.K. Sakhuja has been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) for distinguished service.

His role in projecting and protecting the force’s image under three successive army chiefs has been acknowledged. He has also excelled in crisis communication.

Sakhuja had his early education at St. Patricks and Vivek Vardhani College at Hyderabad. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, he graduated from the Defence Services Staff College.

He has held prestigious appointments and also commanded the 10th battalion of the Madras Regiment in intense counter insurgency operations in northern Jammu and Kashmir.

He has acquired a doctorate in journalism and authored over 70 articles in various dailies and journals, many of them on media-military relations.

He has also been a media mentor to over 2,000 military officers, including those from foreign armies.
