Kabul : A NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldier died of wounds suffered by small-arms fire in eastern Afghanistan, the allied military said on Sunday. The soldier was injured in firing by militants in the mountainous Nuristan province, said a statement from the NATO headquarters here.
He was evacuated to a NATO medical facility where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of this fallen soldier,” said Lt. Col. Claudia Foss, ISAF spokesperson.
In accordance with ISAF policy, the name and nationality of the soldier were withheld pending notification of next of kin.
