GOI gives MP Govt. Rs. 360 cr. for Panchayats

Bhopal: Under the Backward Region Grant Fund Scheme, Government of India’s Panchayati Raj Ministry has released funds amounting to Rs. 360.46 crore to Madhya Pradesh Government.

Accordingly, the Madhya Pradesh Government has transferred the received funds to District Panchayats, Village Panchayats, civic bodies for carrying out their proposed works. With these funds 19,920 works have been started.

Madhya Pradesh Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Rustam Singh has instructed the concerning officers and bodies to complete the works within the deadline.

Works in the districts have been started with the funds received under the Backward Regional Grant Fund Scheme which has been started from the year 2006-07. Utilising the funds construction of 119 block resource centres has been started apart from 71 block resource centres taken up during 2006-07.

Twenty-seven districts of Madhya Pradesh are getting the benefit of Backward Region Grant Fund Scheme. These districts include Mandla, Khargone, Badwani, Shahdol, Seoni, Satna, Sidhi, Balaghat, Dindori, Umaria, Khandwa, Rajgarh, Rewa, Sheopur Kalan, Shivpuri, Tikamgarh, Katni, Panna, Guna, Dhar, Betul , Damoh, Jhabua, Burhanpur, Ashok Nagar and Anup Pur.

During the first phase Rs. 1349.79 lakh out of Rs 3795.97 lakh has been spent. Out of the total 1206 sanctioned works, 1006 are under progress. ([email protected])
