New Delhi : People all over north India continue to battle the chill with minimum temperatures across the plains staying four to six degrees Celsius below average. The weather department has promised no respite before Friday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Wednesday that cold winds would keep blowing across northwest till Friday.
“Minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-3°C over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan till Feb 1,” said the IMD. “Consequently, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are likely to prevail over these regions.”
After that, there may be some rain in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan, from Feb 2 to 4, says the weatherman.
The lowest minimum temperature of -1.2 degrees Celsius in the plains was recorded at Adampur in Punjab.
Kolkata and areas around had some winter showers Wednesday but weather officials in the eastern metropolis said the skies would clear up within a day.
The following are the maximum and minimum temperatures and rainfall in major cities for the 24 hours till Wednesday morning, with figures in brackets denoting deviations from the average.
