Islamabad : Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday stressed the importance of multi-faceted cooperation between Pakistan and the United States, according to official Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
He made the remarks when meeting with visiting U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Richard.
Musharraf also underlined the need for deepening cooperation inthe agreed areas of economy, energy, education and science and technology.
Pakistan-U.S. relations, counter-terrorism cooperation and regional developments of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting, the APP said.
Musharraf emphasized the need for enhanced market access for Pakistani products in the U.S.. He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fighting against extremism and terrorism.
Boucher expressed the commitment of the U.S. to a strong and broad-based relationship with Pakistan. He also appreciated Pakistani government’s efforts to address extremism and terrorism, and expressed U.S. support for economic and social development of Pakistan, said the APP.
