Illegal liquor units of Bihar’s influential MP’s kin busted

Patna : Busting two illegal liquor manufacturing units, allegedly run by a kin of ruling Janata Dal United (JD-U) MP Prabhunath Singh, excise department officials have arrested four people and seized a huge quantity of spirit and liquor, police here said Friday.

Official sources said the illegal liquor manufacturing units were owned by Raj Kamal Singh, son-in-law of Prabhunath Singh. The excise officials raided the place, seized spirit and liquor and arrested four people, they added.

Meanwhile, a senior official of the excise department said the unlicensed liquor units enjoyed political clout.

It was for the first time the excise department officials dared to raid the illegal liquor manufacturing unit owned by Singh’s close relatives, who is notorious for his muscle power.

Singh, who represents Maharajganj constituency in the Lok Sabha, is the deputy leader of the JD-U parliamentary party. He faces over two dozen criminal charges, including murder, kidnapping and extortion.
