By Xinhua,
Brussels : European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana held “positive” talks by phone with Iran’s nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili, his spokeswoman said here on Friday.
“They had a positive, constructive conversation,” Solana’s spokeswoman Cristina Gallach told reporters.
She said that they agreed to keep in contact during telephone talks.
Gallach said that Jalili announced that he would send a response very soon to a package of incentives containing “more concrete elements.”
Solana, who is in London over the weekend, was not to make any statement on the matter before Monday, said the spokeswoman.
“Even if we formally receive (a response) some time will be needed to analyze it,” she added.
Solana personally handed the package of incentives to the Iranian authorities last month.
The proposal, agreed by the five UN Security Council permanent members — Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States –plus Germany, was meant to persuade Iran to halt uranium enrichment activities.
