Two bombs exploded in Orangi town’s Banaras area, dominated by ethnic Pashtun immigrants from the restive North West Frontier Province.

A third occurred in Qasba Colony, also mostly inhabited by Pashtuns.

The other two blasts took place in central parts of the city, including near a private hospital owned by a cabinet member and close friend of Asif Zardari, widower and leader of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party of slain former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
