New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh Monday condemned the suicide attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul and described it as an act of cowardice and crime against humanity.
“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack at the Indian embassy in Kabul. This barbaric and vicious attack on innocent civilians deserves the condemnation of every peace-loving individual,” he said in a statement.
“Initial investigations are pointing towards Taliban carrying the attack in collusion with the Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI). It is now clear that they are actively involved in destabilising peace and harmony in the region,” he said.
ISI is the intelligence agency of Pakistan.
Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai had already warned world about ISI’s active involvement in promoting terrorist activities, he added.
While urging the Indian government to provide immediate relief to the affected families, Rajnath Singh said: “I extend my deepest condolences to the victims and their families. I also demand the government to ensure safety and security of Indian citizens in the region.”
“I have been repeatedly saying that the Indian government should formulate a broader policy on terrorism to counter this growing menace in the Indian subcontinent,” he said.
“It is high time that government comes out with a comprehensive policy to safeguard our national interests and safety of our citizens working in neighbouring countries,” he added.
Four Indians, including two diplomats and two security personnel, were among 44 killed when a suicide bomber driving a car rammed into the Indian embassy gate in Kabul.
