Talking to reporters after the meeting of the ruling seven party alliance in Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon, Prachanda said that the parties had made a major breakthrough by reaching a consensus on the Madhesi parties’ demands and that this development paved the way for the formation of a new government.

“New government will be in place within a week,” he asserted.

Asked whether there was any change regarding his proposed premiership, he said, “It’s not an issue whether I lead the government or not.”

He added that the Nepali Congress should also join the government as no political party should be in the opposition in the Constituent Assembly whose main task is to write a constitution.
