BEML bags Rs.2 bn mining equipment export orders

Bangalore : India’s leading mining and construction equipment maker Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) has bagged orders worth Rs.2.07 billion to export hydraulic excavators, rear dump trucks and bulldozers to Indonesia.

One order for 93 equipments valued at Rs.1.58 billion is from Fajar Bumi Sakti, Indonesia, for deployment at its open cast coal mines, one of the world’s largest such mines, and two other mines, BEML said in a statement here Wednesday.

The second order for 34 equipments worth Rs.490 million is from Singapore’s Far East Resources & Mining Co for their coal mines in Indonesia.

BEML plans to establish a sales office-cum-repair facility and spares depot at Balikpapan in Indonesia in three months to provide 24×7 after-sales support to its customers, the statement said.

The company, which exports to more than 50 countries, is focusing on increasing market penetration in Asia Pacific, West Asia and Africa.

BEML plans to achieve a sale of Rs.36 billion in 2008-09, the statement said.
