Left meets president, asks for immediate trust vote

New Delhi : The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led Left parties Wednesday formally withdrew their 49-month support to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s multi-party government and asked for a trust vote on the floor of the Lok Sabha.

The leaders of the four Left parties submitted a combined letter withdrawing their backing to the Congress-led government to President Pratibha Patil. They also asked the president to direct the government to prove its majority on the floor of the house in the wake their pull out.
