Number of South Korean visitors to Dubai increase 50 percent

Dubai : The number of South Korean visitors arriving at Dubai International Airport (DIA) has increased by 50 per cent at the end of the first half of 2008, in comparison with the numbers by end of 2007, according to figures by Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD).

DIA registered the arrival of 32,370 South Korean visitors during the first half of 2008 alone, whereas only 42,000 South Korean visitors passed through the airport in the whole year of 2007.

The figures were released during a meeting held Tuesday between Park Kyu-ock, South Korean Consul General and Major-General Mohammad Ahmad Al Marri, Director of DNRD.

The officials discussed bilateral relations and the rapid increase in the number of Korean visitors coming to Dubai.

The Consul praised the level of service provided by the qualified staff at DNRD, especially those positioned at the Dubai International Airport who complete travelers’ procedures in a speedy and efficient manner.

Major General Al Marri commented: “We are extremely delighted to have received His Excellency after our trip to South Korea last month, where we received a lot of praise, thanks to the outstanding performance of our staff in attaining the highest level of customer satisfaction.”
