Jagdishpur (Uttar Pradesh): Congress MP Rahul Gandhi shared tea and sweets with villagers and interacted with elderly people who had been waiting to meet him since morning during a visit to his constituency of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh Monday.
Gandhi, during a visit to the newly-created Haliyapur block, made it a point to interact with people along the way at nearly 10 ten places and stopped the vehicle whereever a group of villagers waved to him to stop.
He assured the people similar attention and development like Amethi and Rae Bareli in Haliyapur block and thanked the residents for their welcome and support during his visit, his first visit to the block.
The block was earlier part of the Isauli Vidhan Sabha constituency of Sultanpur. After the recent delimitation, it now falls under the Jagdishpur constituency of Amethi. With the MLA of the Jagdishpur seat belonging to the Congress, Gandhi’s visit could well be termed as a preparatory visit for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He dedicated a newly-constructed link road to the public in the Jainabganj village and addressed villagers in Haliyapur. He also assured villagers that their complaints about water, electricity and other problems would be redressed. He promised unemployed youths assistance in getting jobs in private industries.
“We assist nearly 1,000 youths in getting jobs in private industrial units every year but due to lack of technical expertise, most of them leave the job. I am ready to help the youths of this block,” the COngress MP told a group of youths who stopped him in Hanumanganj village.
He stopped at a sweet shop in the Hanumanganj market and shared a cup of tea and sweets with the villagers.
Addressing a gathering of over 1,000 villagers in Haliyapur, Gandhi called upon the youths to come forward and play an active role in changing the political scenario of the state. “Your participation could not only bring a revolutionary change in Haliyapur but also bring a positive change in the politics of the state,” he said.
He assured the villagers that he would meet them every time he visits Amethi. “I visit the constituency every month and stay at the Munshiganj guest house. You can come and meet me there without any hesitation,” he added.
Inaugurating a newly constructed meeting hall at a government inter college in Nevada village, Gandhi announced financial assistance of Rs.1.3 million from his MP fund.
