The Four Indians – defence attaché Brig. R.D. Mehta, press counsellor V. Venkat Rao and security personnel Roop Singh and Ajai Pathania – were among the 54 people killed in the July 7 attack, in which about 140 people were injured.

“The respective departments to which the deceased Indians belonged have recommended the Kirti Chakra for them. The defence ministry has accepted the recommendations,” the official said.
