India A beat Israel, win ODI series 3-0

New Delhi : India A defeated Israel by 106 runs in the final one-day international and won the three-match series 3-0 in the Israeli port city of Ashdod Wednesday.

Batting first, India with the help of Wriddhiman Saha’s unbeaten 85 and Cheteshwar Pujara’s 48 scored 235 for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs.

In reply, Israelis were bundled out for 129 runs in 32 overs. Israeli captain Ali Bacher (31) and J. Mollin (35) tried to put up some fight.

For India, Ashok Dinda took four wickets for 22 runs while captain Jaydev Shah ended with magical figures of four for just four runs.

The three-match series was played to commemorate 60 years of Israel’s formation. Israel Cricket Association (ICA) is an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and was a founding member of the European Cricket Council in 1996.

The Israeli team included Jewish players from all over the world, including Bension Songaonkar from India and retired South African player Jonty Rhodes, who joined the team as a supporter of Israel.
