Gaza : A Palestinian minister in the deposed government of Hamas on Thursday said that Israel was still not committed to an Egyptian-brokered truce between Israel and Gaza militant groups.
Zeyad al-Zaza, minister of economy in Ismail Haneya’s government told reporters that so far “Israel is still playing with the terms of the truce aiming at exerting more pressures on our people.”
According to the truce, Israel has to ease a one-year-blockade imposed on Gaza, ease restrictions on crossings and halt ground and air military operations against Gaza militants for stopping rockets attacks on Israel.
On Wednesday, Hamas leaders said Israel did not allow fuels into Gaza and had informed the Palestinians that construction materials would not be allowed into Gaza for three days.
“The occupation (Israel) would be fully responsible for not being committed to the full implementation of the truce,” said Zaza.
Zaza urged the mediator Egypt to exert more pressure on Israel in order to make it commit itself to easing the restrictions imposed on the crossings and allow more goods into Gaza.
Israel had opened three major border crossing points, namely Karni, Sofa, Nahal Oz since the truce took effect on June 19. The crossing of Kerem Shalom in southern Gaza Strip is still closed, added Zaza.
Despite the truce, Israel closes the crossings from time to time in response to Palestinian rocket attacks.
