A criminal case was lodged against legislator Dharmendra Kashyap from Bareilly district July 12 by Saroj Kumari, who alleged that he forcefully entered her house and misbehaved with her.

“He also threatened to kidnap my daughter. Besides Kashyap, two of his private guards and one Uttar Pradesh police gunner also manhandled us,” Kumari alleged in her complaint to the police.

“Three people were also named in the FIR and the case was lodged in the Cantonment police station,” additional director general of police (law and order) Brijlal told IANS.

Kashyap, who courted arrest Wednesday evening, was produced before the court and sent to jail, Brijlal said, adding his accomplices were taken to the reserve police lines.

“The case is being probed and the police have also taken statements of the complainant,” Brijlal added.
