Islamabad : Pakistan and India will hold on July 21 the next round of high level dialogue to discuss issues ranging from the long-standing Kashmir dispute and trade promotion, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said.
Both countries have held four rounds of the “Composite Dialogue” process which started in 2004 and the fifth will be held in New Delhi on Monday, a statement of the ministry said.
“The Fifth Round of Pakistan-India Composite Dialogue would be launched on July 21, 2008 in New Delhi with the Foreign Secretary-level talks on the segments of ‘Peace and Security including CBMs’ and ‘Jammu and Kashmir’,” it said.
The Pakistani delegation will be headed by Pakistani Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir, it said.
During the talks, both sides will look into the prospects of a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, the statement said.
The talks will also focus on the issues of peace and security, according to the statement. Implementation of various conventional, nuclear and cross-LoC (Line of Control) Confidence Building Measures will be reviewed and possible new CBMs will be discussed.
The visit will also provide an opportunity for the two foreign secretaries to discuss other areas of bilateral cooperation, it said.
